Other Procedures

LASIK is the treatment of choice for that most people choose, but for individuals whose cornea is too flat, steep or thin, PRK or Phakic Lens Implants may be the best solution.

PRK

Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) is a laser vision correction procedure that can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Much like LASIK, PRK uses an excimer laser to reshape the cornea to a desired shape, thusly reducing or eliminating glasses and contact lenses.

Unlike LASIK that makes a small protective flap, PRK shapes the cornea on the surface. Technically, not having a corneal flap makes the cornea more structurally sound, so PRK might ideal for those with special jobs like boxers, divers and firefighters.

ICL

Phakic lenses are for those patients whose nearsightedness is beyond the limits of laser vision correction. A recent breakthrough in Phakic technology is the Visian ICL. This lens can correct a wide range of nearsightedness, while providing UV protection and excellent visual clarity.

SMILE

Small Incision Lenticule Extraction – is the latest innovation in laser vision correction. SMILE surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that unlike LASIK does not require a corneal flap and may offer better post-operative biomedical stability and a reduced risk of dry eyes.
